General Objective
The main aim of this multidisciplinary project is to evaluate the burden of emerging viruses and microplastics (MPs) in drinking water and seafood from the Comunitat Valenciana, through their isolation and quantification along the water cycle and the evaluation of potential health risks associated to MPs ingestion.
Specific Objectives
- Implement the methods to isolate and quantify viruses of emerging concern and microplastics. in different water and food samples from our region.
- Assess the presence and time evolution of emerging contaminants (viruses and MPs) along the water cycle in the Comunitat Valenciana
- Evaluate the toxicokinetics and toxicity of dietary microplastics, including the effects on the intestinal microbiome, as a part of the risk assessment.
